After listening to it for about 40 times & analyzing Dr Sid’s song, chop ogbono remix ft Olamide; I decided to finally do my review on it. Ok distinct fam, let’s discuss this because I can’t do this one alone, this song is one of the most controversial song in Nigeria in 2015 & it received a lot of backlash especially on twitter as Dr Sid’s fan or let me say fanemies (yes this is a new word I have decided to form for reviews & in my books, it means your fans that are also your enemies just like frenemies) dragged him & went a little below the belt with their tweets.
The video was released on May 5, 2015 and till date has about 30,000 views which is pretty low compared to his surulere video which had over 150,000 views within the first 2 weeks, the video which looks like it was shot indoors portrays Dr Sid being a boss & serenading his supposed girl while Olamide(baddo himself) was supporting Dr. Sid in his serenation.
I would have to say the song was just ok for me, the beats were actually really nice, the lyrics & the title threw me off a little bit but let’s be honest, Don jazzy is a very calculative producer & one of the best producers in Nigeria right now so a lot of thought process would have gone into the controversial title & he would never leave any of his artist/mavin team member with anything short of quality & any publicity they say is good publicity, whether or not you think it’s a great song, it got you all talking about Dr Sid which is good for business, Dr Sid looked great in the video partly because he has lost a lot of weight, his choice of outfits were ok as I would have preferred a casual look with T-shirts & jeans all through as that would blend into the video well.
Dr Sid & Olamide are 2 very controversial artists in Nigeria, Dr Sid who is signed to Mavin records is known for giving great songs that appeal to his fans especially “pop champagne” which helped several night clubs generate massive revenue & profit on champagne in Nigeria while Olamide who has his own record label which is known as YBNL Nation is known for his x-rated lyrics in his songs that appeals to his fans on the street but both have stayed consistent in the music industry & don’t let their busy schedule fool you, they will both come for you when you come for them.
Now let’s talk about Nigerian twitter, why why why do you all drag entertainers through the mud like they don’t have blood running through their veins, I would have wished Dr Sid ignored & not reply though, the back & forth was unnecessary, he is the superstar while most of us are the spectators, fans, fanemies & whether or not he has one song that wasn’t the best, he will still pay his mortgage so y’all need to take a back seat for real (why can’t we Nigerians just be happy for people, poor Dr Sid talked about getting a mortgage to acquire his Lekki home a while back & his fanemies had to remind him of that) I wish his twitter fanemies gave constructive critisism as opposed to bashing him, cut him some slack biko, he has a lot of pressure on him, being a good husband, a great father, an artist & a mavin is not easy, all these fanemies & their below the belt comments odikwa serious, on that note Dr Sid, me I don’t want to chop ogbono o but send me an invite for lunch with the Mavins at a nice chinese restaurant & see if I will oblige or not.
The moment you live your dreams, not because of what it will prove or get you, but because that is all you want to do. People’s opinions don’t matter.
